Tips for taking care of your baby during summers

Just the way different seasons affect our health and body, it can have a similar impact on your little one’s health too. You must know that babies need extra care and attention every time the climate changes or a new season begins. While in the winter season you may care more about keeping your baby warm and take good care of him or her, there are certain factors that you need to keep in mind during the summer season. The summer season is actually a tricky season and it is important for your baby to adjust to the season’s temperature. You need to keep a check on the food your little one consumes during this season.

Below are few tips that we at Mother Nurture would like to share with you all as the summer season approaches, which will help you in taking better care of your little one!

Keep a check on the food your baby eats
Your child’s diet is the first thing that you need to be cautious about especially during the summers. There are some essential rules that you need to follow. For instance if your little one relies only on breast milk you have to make it a point to feed him or her quite often. This is important to keep your child hydrated as summers lead to a lot of sweating that can cause loss of fluid from your baby’s body. If your baby is taking fresh cows milk ,make sure that the milk you give your little one is fresh. Because in summers fresh cow’s milk tends to get easily spoilt. If you use Formula for your child make sure to mix when needed, as the warm climate may lead to it spoiling if left for longer periods of time.

When going out or travelling carry fresh fruits or baby snacks as cooked food may get easily spoilt.

Give your baby ample of hygienic water to drink
This one is another essential tip that you need to follow. Your baby’s immunity at an early age is under development and hence it is very important to give him or her hygienic water always to keep infections away. Make sure that the water is boiled well before consumption or used bottled water. Dehydration is a common concern in kids during the summer season. Make sure that your baby drinks about 12 ounces of water a day to avoid this problem. Also keep a check on your child’s urine output during summers to check for any symptoms of dehydration.

Choose the right clothes
Let your baby’s skin breathe during the summer season. Do not keep your baby wrapped during summer season. Opt for clothes that are made up of organic cotton and those which have a loose yet comfy fit. Prefer dressing your baby in light color clothes when going outside. Babies have a very sensitive skin and hence as a protection shield you can also apply a thin layer of sunscreen. However, before using any sunscreen make sure that you consult your pediatrician.
